German militaria WWII - THE M42 HELMET   This helmet had the most changes. As the war started costing Germany more and more, it was decided that the new model of combat helmet should be cheeply produced the M42 was a pressed helmet. The M42 had no rolled edge as found on the M35 and M40. The M42 had pressed side vents and is easy to identify by the flared edge which has a slight flair out at the base of the helmet. The M42 was factory size marked on the right or left side of the skirt and found with production code stamped in the rear of the skirt. This one is size 64, produce by hkp. It still also have the inked stam at the inside bottom of the helmet. Over all really nice.
